I myself have had arguements with myself on this one. I am more accepting of it but, I have to call them civil unions to make it ok with me. I am a work in progress myself. I hope this helps others as well.
Where to start, where to start? Let's get down to basics. ANYONE that gets married in America is entering into a civil union. Everyone goes to a civil office and fills out a civil piece of paper and turns it into a civil employee to be filed in a civil office to go on civil record. Now in my opinion a marriage happens when two people give of themselves one to another, forsaking all others and making a commitment that no matter what happens they will stay together. The couple forms a bond of heart, mind, body and soul. Supporting one another even when the road gets rocky. That is a marriage.
There are many people out there in the world as leaders in the political arena that are stating that the only marriage is a traditional one. They are on their second, third and even fourth marriage. I guess they love it so much they are wanting to share with everyone. I find this hypocritical on their behalves. Most of these marriages have ended with someone in the partnership having an affair with someone else. I don't see how the LGBT community is destroying that marriage unless one of the partners is having an affair with the same sex. Still as a group it is not the fault of the LGBT community. It is still the fault of the partner who is having the affair. I have seen in Utah and other areas of the country where married to three or more wives is a perfectly fine way of living. There are even TV shows about how wonderful it all is. No one is complaining about that being wrong. I keep hearing the Chrisian values are being thrown under the rug. I have read in my Bible that Jesus, the Christ, states love one another. Don't judge. He who is without sin let cast the first stone. Pick the plank out of your eye before helping your neighbor with a splinter. Is it not true that what goes on between God and a person is between those two and no others?
Will this ever be resolved? I think down the road it will be. I see daily where states are voting as a majority to allow same sex marriages and I see where others are in court fighting to the end and losing. What will be will be. Let happiness happen. Let there be a loving, caring community that shows love to one another. Work hand and hand and see what God will grant us all.
I am still honored to be asked to join a LGBT couple. Love has no boundries.
